The field of financial and legal services is one of the most regulated, complex and risk-sensitive sectors. That is why it is important to select the most suitable and qualified employees in this sector, as not only the company’s results but also its reputation will depend on them. Mistakes, such as non-compliance with AML or KYC risks, can cost a company millions, so candidates must not only be competent, accurate and analytical, but also trustworthy, with a good reputation and high ethical standards.

Many financial and legal positions require specific knowledge, for example, of various financial instruments, regulations, laws, and specific IT systems. Without professional recruitment, it is usually difficult to find such candidates. In the financial sector, these include risk analysts, AML and KYC specialists, investment bankers and private bankers. In the legal field, these include lawyers who deal with compliance issues, data protection officers, M&A lawyers, intellectual property lawyers, AI regulation lawyers and tax consultants. Good specialists rarely change jobs, and they need to be approached proactively, rather than waiting for them to send their CVs.

We have implemented 36 personnel recruitment projects in the financial and legal sectors.

Case study

About the client

Our client, SIA “ZAB Elleks Kļaviņš”, is one of the largest law firms in the Baltics, with a team of more than 250 lawyers and legal professionals. The company is an internationally recognized and award-winning legal services provider that has been operating in the Baltics for more than 30 years.

Goal

The company needed an M&A lawyer whose job was to ensure that the purchase, sale, merger or division of the company took place safely, legally correctly and with minimum risk. An M&A lawyer participates in transactions where one company buys another, a company is sold to investors, a merger takes place, a company is split or restructured or a shareholding restructuring process takes place. They review company contracts, analyse risks (such as litigation and tax liabilities), evaluate intellectual property, review the status of property and assets, prepare contracts, structure transactions and coordinate all parties involved..

Since M&A lawyers work with highly complex legal documents, this is one of the most specialized and sought-after profiles in the legal field; there are few such people, and they are not usually actively looking for work. In addition, a good M&A lawyer must not only be professionally competent, but also analytical, very precise, a good negotiator, business-minded, able to work with large amounts of data and able to react quickly to various changes.

About the recruitment process

Despite the complex profile and limited pool of potential candidates, we successfully found such a candidate within four weeks using a headhunting or direct approach, receiving positive feedback from our client.
